The appointment of 6 new bishops of Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church has took place on 29 hamle 2013 (05 August 2021 G.C.) at Saint Mary church Asmara.

The basis of prayer is the divine word which runs “Ask, and it will be given to you, seek, and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you” (Mt. 7:7).
The Mesekel holiday is celebreated on Meskerem 17 (27th of September) and Megabit 10 (19th of March). The word Meskel means, Cross, and the feast commemorates the finding of the True Cross by St. Helena.

On behalf of the Church, it gives me great pleasure to congratulate Eritreans at home and abroad in general, and Christians in particular, as well as the bedridden in hospitals, the diligent health workers and care givers, members of the armed forces, and the detainees in the rehabilitation centers, on the solemn occasion of the advent of the Head Anniversary (the New Year of the Church).
Moreover, Whilst John the evangelist was preaching in the country of Asia, on the sixteenth day of the month of Nahasse, he was caught up in the spirit to the Garden of Delight, and he saw our Lord Jesus Christ sitting by the Tree of Life, where was the body of our Lady Mary, and He commanded His Seven Angels to summon her from the Garden of Delight. And they said unto the Garden, “God, our Lord Jesus Christ, commandeth that the body of His pure mother shall go forth.

Today we celebrate the feast of the commemoration of the Ascension of the pure body of Our Lady Mary, the God-bearer, into heaven. This feast is celebrated at the end of a two week long fast, the tsome filseta, as per the order of Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and His holy apostles
